Heather Jones - Resource/Learning Support
Welcome back to Holy Cross School! Check back here soon for a list of learning strategies and resources which I hope to update monthly!
THIS WEEK'S HOMEWORK:
I came to Holy Cross School in winter of 2016-2017 to provide resource and learning support in small-group instruction to lower school children. In the 2019-2020 academic year, I will be co-teaching ELA and mathematics in grades 5-8 and providing targeted interventions to students with learning differences. I have an undergraduate background in theatre and foreign languages from DeSales University and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with K-6 certification from the University of Pennsylvania, and additional certification in Special Education prek-8 through Holy Family University. Finally, I recently earned Middle Grades 4-8 certification in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
I also have three children of my own and twelve years of experience teaching music to preschoolers, which taught me creativity, flexibility, and a kinesthetic, whole-body approach to learning and teaching. When not helping children learn, I love to write (I have three chapters of a book in a desk drawer--wish me luck completing it!), sing (I sing soprano with my local church choir as well as with the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia) and play guitar (I picked it up seven years ago and now I have trouble putting it down!). I also have an abiding love of all things feline and have two tuxedo cats, Moses and Aaron, as well as a new acquisition, a feral who is learning to love cuddles and whom we've named Florp. Moses, Aaron, Florp, my husband, my three children and I reside nearby in Elkins Park. I look forward to working with your children and am always available by email (I will respond within 24 hours).
